How did I get to the point where I could brush off her comment without spiraling back into my eating disorder? I did not suddenly wake up one morning — fully recovered — thinking, “You know what? I really love and admire everything about my body today.” Recovery has been a gradual, ongoing process — as I practice accepting my body and appreciating its aesthetics and function.
