Real-Life Heroes in Eating Disorder Recovery – Jennifer Taylor
When I was younger I wanted to be 3 things:
1. A doctor on Mondays and Tuesdays
2. A lawyer on Wednesdays and Thursdays
3. On the weekends, I wanted to be She-Ra
I know, I know. My schedule was a tad busy but I was convinced I could pull it off.
Well I didn’t become a lawyer, and I wasn’t able to fulfill my dream in becoming a doctor.
However, I did become a part of the greatest superhero team ever.
I never thought, when I joined the recruiting team at Eating Recovery Center, that I would be considered a hero, let alone be recruiting for them.
Well, the job of recruiting isn’t new to me, but the job of recruiting heroes every day is new to me. I proudly recruit for the states of Texas and South Carolina and I am thankful to be able to be play a very important part in the growth of an eating disorder clinic that plays a role in the healing of so many.
Each day, I have the privilege of looking for new dedicated heroes that will be responsible for helping people ease into the rewarding life of recovery.
Each day, I get to come into work and look for various types of heroes: nurses, registered dietitians, clinicians, and more. Each of these individuals has a key part in the wellbeing and full recovery of our patients. While the roles and titles may vary, these individuals all work together tirelessly to make sure our patients and their families are taken care of in the journey to eating disorder recovery.
I guess you can call us the Avengers of the medical world.
Our team may not wear capes. We may not have super cool cars and gadgets or theme music, but what we do have is this: compassion, experience, understanding and, most importantly, solutions.
Although I personally cannot relate to the struggles that our patients deal with every day, I take pride in knowing that I am a part of their solution for freedom.
You see, one thing that I remember from when I wanted to be She-Ra is that she had a sword of protection, and it provided her with what she needed.
I think of Eating Recovery Center as the sword of protection that our patients and their families need.
- If you need a nurse, don’t worry — we got that.
- If you need us to be a nutritionist — yep, we can do that, too.
- You need a primary clinician? Honey, we can handle that with ease.
Do you need us to hold your hand while you face the battle to recovery? We take pride in doing that and will gladly help you fight any battle that you may face.
