National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) hosts National Eating Disorders Awareness Week. The 2016 campaign—Three Minutes Can Save a Life—performed grand gestures, including the Empire State Building lighting up for #NEDAwareness.

In an effort to meet the emerging treatment needs of patients and families in the Midwest,
Eating Recovery Center, Chicago will open a new residential program in downtown Chicago in May 2016. In addition to Eating Recovery Center, Insight’s 16-bed mixed unit (treating eating, mood and anxiety disorders), this new 24-bed program will separate the patient populations to provide optimal eating disorder care, and expand Chicago-area residential treatment capacity to 40 beds.

This month, the eating disorder community lost one of its most steadfast advocates, Lynn Grefe. As President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), Lynn championed tirelessly for eating disorder prevention, cures and expanded access to quality care. Drs. Craig Johnson and Ovidio Bermudez pay tribute to their long-time colleague and friend.
