Dr. Michael Cannon is a board-certified adult psychiatrist. Dr. Cannon graduated from the University of Virginia where he earned his bachelor’s degree, studying psychology and East Asian studies. He worked in a variety of behavioral health settings in direct care roles before pursuing his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He went on to complete post-graduate training in adult psychiatry at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency Program. In addition to treating patients in the Mood and Anxiety disorders intensive outpatient program, Dr. Cannon practices emergency psychiatry at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center.

Dr. Cannon treats a diverse range of psychiatric illnesses, with a particularly keen interest in affective and anxiety disorders. He integrates his expertise in psychopharmacology with a proficiency in multiple psychotherapeutic modalities for an approach to treatment that is patient-centered, recovery-oriented, and grounded in evidence-based medicine.
