Smash TALK- Smashing Diet Culture on Love Your Body Day

Oct 19, 2022 | 6:00pm - 7:30pm (MDT)
Virtual

Are you tired of diet culture? Are you concerned that you or a friend of yours has an eating disorder? Are you struggling with your relationship to your body? You’re not alone.

When McCall Dempsey (she/her), Eric Dorsa (they/them), Lindsey Hall (she/her), and Carrie Zhang (she/her) were in their early 20s, they looked and played the part of the quintessential college student. They made the grades, went to the parties, joined the clubs, and maintained their images as the “fun” friend who had their life together.

What they didn’t disclose in their respective college years is that each of them was suffering intensely with an eating disorder and negative body image. At the time, they didn’t have the community or resources to talk about it.

But, Say It Brave on Campus is here to change that.

Join McCall, Eric, Lindsey and Carrie on October 19 from 8 – 9:30 p.m. ET for a Smash Talk: Smashing Diet Culture on Love Your Body Day with the National Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness. At this Say It Brave on Campus event, hear from all four of these mental health advocates and recovery social media influencers as they discuss:

  • Their college experiences and what led them to recovery
  • Pressure students often feel to keep with expectations from coaches, professors and/or families, and ways to prioritize your mental health
  • Tools for navigating diet culture on campus
  • Resources for eating disorder recovery

* We’re aware that these topics may be sensitive and encourage you to involve mental health providers on your campus with your Watch Party. Please contact SayItBrave@ERCPathlight.com for any assistance in coordinating your Watch Party, or to be connected with a mental health professional who can attend.

Please note, if you attend the event on October 19th, viewers will have a dedicated time for Q&A with the presenters. If you are unable to attend on this date, registrants will be sent the recorded presentation. You must register to receive the event on-demand.
