This presentation will discuss the impact of diet culture on binge eating and how effective meal planning can put clients on a path toward recovery. Presenters will review evidence for the effectiveness of the CARE meal plan and how it is implemented for the treatment of binge eating disorder. Attendees will gain insight into the hallmark features of effective meal planning for binge eating disorder.
The target audience for this continuing education program is mental health providers and clinicians working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Materials are appropriate for learners with an introductory level of understanding about mental health concerns.
Educational Objectives:
Following this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Describe the diagnostic criteria for Binge Eating Disorder
- Discuss research evidence supporting the effectiveness of the CARE meal plan in binge eating treatment
- Identify how diet culture contributes to eating disorder symptoms
