Nancy Mwangi, PMHNP

Nancy Mwangi is a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) dedicated to helping individuals navigate the complexities of mental health with respect, empathy, and expertise. Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, Nancy’s journey into healthcare began after a career in education, where she taught high school prior to entering the field of nursing. Her deep-rooted passion for care and communication continues to shape the way she builds therapeutic relationships with her patients today.

Nancy's professional path spans nearly three decades and includes nursing education and clinical training across Kenya and the United States. She earned her RN from Cicely McDonell School of Nursing in Nairobi in 1995, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Canyon University in Arizona in 2014. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in psychiatry at Walden University in 2023. She is board-certified to provide psychiatric care across the lifespan and holds active licenses as an Advanced Practice Nurse and Registered Nurse.

Nancy has extensive experience working with individuals across a wide spectrum of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and personality disorders. She is committed to patient-centered care and finds great fulfillment in seeing her patients make meaningful progress, no matter the severity or complexity of their challenges. Her clinical approach integrates evidence-based practices, and she is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) to ensure safe, effective care.

Outside of her clinical practice, Nancy enjoys traveling, reading, and dancing—activities that bring her joy and balance. She is also an active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) and the Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses (AAPN), staying connected with the broader community of mental health professionals. At our Denver Willow/Conifer location, Nancy brings warmth, global perspective, and a strong clinical foundation to every patient interaction.
