Svetlana Bek, PMHNP-BC, is a dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at our Downtown Chicago facility. Originally from Russia and having spent over a decade living in Italy before moving to the United States, Svetlana brings a rich multicultural perspective that enhances her ability to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

With a passion for supporting individuals during their most vulnerable moments, Svetlana specializes in caring for patients with depression, OCD, and mood disorders. Her expertise spans both inpatient and short-term treatment settings, where she focuses on stabilization, crisis intervention, and developing immediate, effective care plans. She thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments and is committed to restoring hope, stability, and self-confidence in those she serves.

Svetlana earned her Post-master’s Certificate as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University, holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. Ambrose University, and an Associate Degree in Nursing from NICC. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Chamberlain University. Her professional experience includes serving as a PMHNP with TeamHealth in Chicago, over a decade as a Registered Nurse in the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Emergency Department where she provided trauma and psychiatric emergency care and her current role as a Visiting Professor at Chamberlain University, guiding the next generation of nurses.

An active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and a former member of the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Psychiatric Committee, Svetlana is deeply committed to patient safety and advocacy. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with animals, traveling to experience new cultures, and figure skating, which she admires for its blend of discipline, creativity, and artistry combination of discipline and artistry. These passions help her maintain balance, recharge emotionally, and bring fresh energy to her work with patients.
