Fasting holds deep meaning in many religious and cultural traditions — yet for individuals in eating disorder recovery, expectations around fasting can feel confusing, triggering, or unsafe. Faith, Fasting & Recovery is a supportive, educational workshop designed to help you honor both your healing and your values without shame.
Grounded in cultural humility, we’ll explore how fasting practices and recovery needs can intersect — including the physical impacts, social pressures, and diet culture messages that may arise in spiritual spaces. Together, we’ll identify meaningful alternatives to fasting, ways to maintain community connection, and resources that reinforce your ability to prioritize well-being.
Participants will walk away with practical tools to navigate conversations with loved ones and clergy, and explore ways to honor their faith and cultural practices while staying grounded in their recovery.
This session is open to anyone — whether you participate in fasting traditions, are supporting someone in recovery, or are interested in how a recovery-aligned approach can deepen your connection to your faith and community.
