Designed for caregivers of children or adolescents currently or previously in treatment at Eating Recovery Center (ERC), this virtual education series offers convenient access—whether you're joining from home or between meetings at work.

Build the knowledge and confidence you need to support your loved one through their recovery journey. This four-part virtual series provides practical tools and valuable insights to help you feel more prepared and empowered.

The series is offered monthly, with one course held each week. Sessions can be attended in any order, so you can start at any point in the cycle. Topics include:

Session 1 - Tools for Connection and Confident Communication With Your Loved One

Learn the basics of Advanced Caregiver Skills, rooted in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and designed to strengthen your connection with your loved one. This session offers practical tools to help you confidently support their healing and recovery.

Session 2 - What’s Food Got To Do With It? - Our Nutrition Approach

Discover common nutrition myths versus facts and gain an overview of ERC’s Nutrition Approach and how it applies to your loved one’s recovery. Learn practical tips for everyday situations, such as supporting your loved one at mealtimes, along with guidance to help you feel confident in your caregiving role.

Session 3 - A Medical Lens: Eating Disorder Treatment and Recovery

Get an overview of eating disorders and the medical factors that can impact your loved one's recovery. We’ll discuss common medical complications and explain how we approach healing, offering valuable insights on how to best support your loved one through this journey.

Session 4 - Stay the Course: Practical Steps to Support Recovery

Gain insight into what to expect as your loved one transitions from higher levels of care to continuing their treatment and recovery journey in an outpatient setting. You’ll learn practical strategies to establish structure, maintain routines, and provide ongoing support as they move forward.

Session 5 - Hear Directly From Those Who Have Lived It

Offered only in months with a bonus Thursday (5th Thursday), this special session features alumni and alumni family advocates sharing their lived experiences to offer hope that recovery is possible. Their stories help destigmatize and normalize treatment and recovery. Join our roundtable discussion and Q&A, and come prepared with questions!
