Bias, Racism and Minority Stress in Mental Health

Bias, racism, and the resulting mistrust of the healthcare system on behalf of potential patients and community members has significant consequences for mental health care. This presentation will address how bias and racism influence all aspects of mental health care from treatment seeking to assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and case management. Presenters will have an open discussion to help providers identify how their personal biases impact their treatment approach and how to work with loved ones and community members to advocate for patients and their mental health care.
