This presentation includes the etiology and clinical presentation of eating disorders as well as common misconceptions. The different types of eating disorders are described with associated medical complications. This presentation also includes how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected mental health and in particular eating disorders. Marginalized and often overlooked patient populations are addressed in addition to discussing important management and treatment/level of care considerations for all those affected by an eating disorder.    

Educational Objectives:

Following this presentation, participants will be able to… 

  • Discuss the impact of COVID-19 on eating disorders.  
  • Review the medical complications of eating disorders if someone is restricting and/or purging.  
  • Discuss and identify marginalized individuals and specific patient populations at risk of developing Eating Disorders.
