Biography

Dr. Smith is a native Texan and proud Longhorn. After graduating from the University of Texas in Austin, she joined Teach for America and spent 2 years teaching 6th grade science in urban Houston. During that time, she developed a better understanding of the socioeconomic obstacles many families face especially pertaining to the impact of mental illness on children. Through this experience, she developed a love of teaching, a passion for advocacy, and the strong conviction to work with children and families. After teaching, Dr. Smith graduated from The University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine. She completed her general psychiatry residency at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA and then completed additional training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Cambridge Health Alliance, Harvard Medical School, in Cambridge, MA. Dr. Smith has experience working with eating disorder patients in many settings including inpatient, residential and IOP levels of care. She aims for a holistic approach to treatment, partnering with patients and families to meet treatment goals.
