A Statement from ERC and Insight CEO Rebecca Steinfort

To Our ERC and Insight Community:

I’ve been reflecting on and processing the recent tragic events in the U.S., the homicide of George Floyd, and the outrage and protests that have understandably followed. Nearly every community across the country and even internationally has been impacted by this horrifying and unacceptable act and what it represents. On behalf of the entire executive team, I want to clearly express our support for everyone who has experienced the injustice and injury of longstanding racism – and to speak out for the need for positive, sustainable change.

We strongly reject racism, hate, and discrimination. They run counter to what is good and ethical, and clearly stand in opposition to ERC/Insight’s core values of compassion and integrity. But believing in values is never sufficient. We have an obligation to make sure that we are systematically living up to them as an organization. In that vein, we will begin a process to assess how we are doing in creating an equitable environment for our teammates and patients. As a first step, we are asking teammates who are interested in sharing feedback and ideas on ways we can improve.

We also acknowledge that everyone has a lot of thoughts and emotions to process from these events. We want to thank so many of you who are making heroic efforts to protect and care for patients who are struggling with these traumatic events on top of everything else. We are grateful for your enduring commitment to delivering the very best patient care possible, despite unprecedented challenges to doing so.

We also know the toll this is taking on you, especially our frontline caregivers. Please know that we are working on additional actions and resources to help teammates process and manage through this situation. We will communicate those as they become available.

Thank you for your commitment to our patients and each other.

Rebecca Steinfort, on behalf of the entire Executive Team
