Betsy Callan, LCSW is Clinical Manager of the Binge Eating Treatment and Recovery Program (PHP/IOP) in Chicago. She writes, “when I started as a therapist in the BETR program in 2013, I was immediately intrigued by Binge Eating Disorder. The interventions were fascinating to me because they are a true intersection of therapy, nutrition, body-based work, and medicine. However, what really sparked my passion for this field are the incredible people I get to work with on a daily basis – both my colleagues and patients. Every day I am so inspired by those who walk through our doors. Their determination, grit, and vulnerability ignite my love for my work. I am so grateful to be able to watch individuals work diligently on their recovery and see them truly transform their lives. I am honored and humbled daily, which is why it is so important for me to speak out to those struggling and let them know there is a way to work towards a more meaningful life.”
