Biography
Corina is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She joined ERC in February 2023 and transitioned to the VIOP team in January 2024. She graduated with her master’s degree in counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2009 where she later joined as professional faculty from 2011-2023. Previously, she was practicing as a bilingual family therapist at The Pediatric Developmental Center with Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. There she worked primarily with Spanish speaking families who were seeking help for their children with a history of developmental problems associated with behavioral difficulties. Corina also has a master’s degree in health psychology from National-Louis University. Upon graduation she worked as a child therapist in the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at Lurie Children's Hospital (previously Children's Memorial Hospital) in Chicago.
Corina is a Gottman trained couple therapist, and she has completed all three levels of training with The Gottman Institute. Additionally, she previously conducted clinical research with Latinx couples and taught several courses at graduate level. Corina has a special interest in working with underserved populations, such as immigrants, or families that are experiencing homelessness. An immigrant herself, she came to Chicago from her native Romania in September of 2003. Her work with families experiencing homelessness was part of her collaboration with FACT (Family Assertive Community Treatment), a multi-year interagency collaboration to address the needs of the entire family unit.
