Jennifer Johnson, M.D. is an Adolescent Medicine and Pediatric Physician at the Eating Recovery Center in Irvine, California, where she passionately cares for adolescents and young adults. A double-board certified medical doctor in pediatrics and adolescent medicine, she provides comprehensive care that addresses both medical and behavioral health concerns.
With particular expertise in treating eating disorders, Dr. Johnson was among the first medical doctors to be certified as an Eating Disorders Specialist and is currently the only MD CEDS in Orange County. She has shared her knowledge extensively, delivering presentations to both professional audiences and the community on the complexities of eating disorders.
Dr. Johnson’s involvement in the field extends beyond her clinical work; she is an active member of the Academy for Eating Disorders, the Society for Adolescent Health and Medicine, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her educational background is impressive, starting with a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University, followed by medical training in Germany, where she earned her medical school diploma and M.D.
Her postgraduate training includes an internship and residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at UC San Diego. Over the years, she has held numerous academic positions, including Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma and Associate Professor at UC Irvine, where she also served as Vice Chair for Education and Director of the Pediatric Residency Program.
Dr. Johnson’s contributions to adolescent health are far-reaching, having served on various committees and as a medical director in several initiatives. Fluent in German and with basic proficiency in Spanish, she combines her clinical expertise with a compassionate approach, making a significant impact on the lives of her patients.
