Karen Hofman, PhD

Biography

Dr. Karen R. Hofmann is the director at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Central Florida’s. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, and both her Master of Science in Educational Psychology, and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University. She has 25 years of experience in collegiate mental health and working in college counseling centers. She was an Associate Director, Director of Training at UCF for 7 years and has been Director at UCF CAPS for the last 9 years. She has been at UCF for 19 years. Her areas of interest and expertise include individual, couples and group therapy and supervision focused on relationships and family issues, interpersonal processes, trauma recovery, identity and sexual orientation development, and social justice issues and counseling administration. She is a current member of the Association of University and College Counseling Center Directors (AUCCCD) since 2013. She identifies as Mexican-American, Cis-gender female and is bilingual in Spanish. Dr. Hofmann is a strong advocate for social justice and works to create awareness and education regarding social prejudice and discrimination. Her proudest accomplishment has been raising her 3 grown daughters with her partner of 25 years.
