Dr. Kristin Miselis was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She attended Marlboro College in southern Vermont where she spent a semester in Ecuador and a year in Colombia. It was through her experiences abroad that that she became interested in pursuing a career in medicine. Prior to attending medical school at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, she was a behavioral health counselor at an inpatient psychiatric hospital for children and also worked with children diagnosed with autism. During medical school, she took a year out to pursue a Master of Public Health degree at Columbia University in New York City where she focused on child, adolescent and reproductive health. After medical school, Dr. Miselis completed a four-year residency in adult psychiatry through the New York University School of Medicine. During that time, she designed and implemented a group therapy substance abuse treatment intervention for adolescents hospitalized on the inpatient psychiatric unit. Dr. Miselis completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training at the University of Washington/Seattle Children’s Hospital where she was trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and worked with both inpatient and outpatient recovery from different types of eating disorders. After completing her fellowship, she worked for a community-based mental health clinic where she practiced outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry with a specialization in treating both substance use disorders and eating disorders. Dr. Miselis moved to Austin, Texas where she continued her work in outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry. She joined Eating Recovery Center, Austin in July 2017 as the Medical Director.
