Providing nutrition care to individuals with eating disorders may feel daunting at the start. This presentation will support with overcoming possible clinician fears by providing guidance on nutrition assessment with focus on eating disorder symptoms, forming a care team, various levels of care for eating disorder treatment, and when and how to ask for help.
The target audience for this continuing education program is mental health providers and clinicians working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Materials are appropriate for learners with an introductory level of understanding about mental health concerns.
Educational Objectives:
Following this presentation, participants will be able to…
- Identify questions to add to a nutrition assessment to better understand eating disorder patterns and behaviors
- Describe the importance of forming a patient care team (including dietitian, therapist, psychiatrist, and primary care physician).
- List at least 3 signs that a patient may benefit from a higher level of care for eating disorder treatment.
