A key component of working with individuals with eating disorders is learning how to navigate challenges. This presentation will provide examples of common challenges registered dietitians may face when working with individuals with eating disorders and offer strategies on how to address these challenges when working with specific client populations.
The target audience for this continuing education program is mental health providers and clinicians working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Materials are appropriate for learners with an introductory level of understanding about mental health concerns.
Educational Objectives:
Following this presentation, participants will be able to…
- Discuss examples of common challenges in working with patients with eating disorders.
- Identify strategies and tools to navigate challenges and provide patients with support in recovery.
- Describe ways to explore resistance to treatment recommendations such as meal plan changes and target weights.
