Eating disorders are vastly complex in nature, and providing comprehensive care necessitates the involvement of multiple clinicians and caregivers. This presentation will highlight key members of the multidisciplinary treatment team, emphasizing how to engage unique members of the patient’s care team. Case studies will shed light on working with the care team for children & adolescents, emerging adults, and binge eating disorder populations.
The target audience for this continuing education program is mental health providers and clinicians working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Materials are appropriate for learners with an introductory level of understanding about mental health concerns.
Educational Objectives:
Following this presentation, participants will be able to…
- Describe the importance of providing eating disorder informed dietary education to medical professionals and families of individuals struggling with binge eating disorder
- Describe the importance of engaging the patient’s family/caregivers/identified support system alongside the clinical care team in providing comprehensive care
- Identify three challenges working with emerging adults, and why a comprehensive team is especially important for this age group
