Plano, Texas—Hormonal shifts, metabolism changes, and life events in midlife can be a stressful time for many women, and it can also be a triggering time for those who struggle with their relationship with food and body image.
Recognizing that women in midlife often require the focused support that higher levels of care can provide, Eating Recovery Center in Plano has launched StrongHer, a comprehensive inpatient and residential program offering renewed hope for women over 40.
"In midlife, you just don’t face the same physical, emotional, social, medical, and nutritional challenges you did before,” said ERC Regional Medical Director Stephanie Setliff, MD, CEDS-S. “And with perimenopausal and menopausal changes, combined with major life changes and loss, it can cause a relapse or trigger eating disorders. StrongHer was specifically created to meet the unique treatment needs of women during this time in their lives.”
Program highlights include:
* A dedicated cohort, specialized group programming and meal space to foster a supportive environment.
* Curriculum focused on life phases unique to those in midlife, such as coping with loss, managing career burnout, handling parenting stress, caregiving for aging parents, body image and GLP-1s, and addressing medical and nutritional needs related to menopause.
* Features full-time on-site attending physicians/psychiatrists and 24-hour nursing care.
Additionally, the StrongHer program allows patients to step down seamlessly (from inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization program), all with the same treatment team, providing a continuity of care.
“This allows you to continue your care with the same treatment team you’ve built a connection and trust with since you walked through our doors,” said Setliff. “StrongHer provides a comprehensive approach that both affirms and supports women through this challenging time in their lives and offers a path to recovery.”
