Biography

Dr. Howard R. Weeks is the Chief Medical Officer at Eating Recovery Center and Pathlight Mood and Anxiety Center.

He earned his MD from Duke University and completed a Triple Board residency in Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Utah. He is board-certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Adult Psychiatry, and Clinical Informatics, and holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee.

As an Adjunct Professor of Child Psychiatry at the University of Utah Huntsman Mental Health Institute, Dr. Weeks specializes in treatment-resistant mood disorders, inpatient and residential psychiatry, and interventional therapies such as ECT, TMS, and ketamine treatments. With extensive experience in ECT, he was the first to implement TMS in Utah and has participated in early clinical trials. His academic research emphasizes healthcare efficiency and patient-reported outcomes, supported by numerous publications in clinical care and quality improvement.

Prior to joining us, Dr. Weeks spent nearly 25 years at the University of Utah Huntsman Mental Health Institute, where he was a Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and held appointments in the Departments of Anesthesia and Population Health Studies. During his career, he held many leadership roles, including Division Chief of Child Psychiatry. He was the Chief Medical Information Officer for the University of Utah and served as the Chief Medical Officer for University of Utah Health Plans. He founded the Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment Program and directed several residential treatment care programs.

Dr. Weeks has been nationally recognized for his contributions to the field of psychiatry and has been awarded the designation of Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (DFAACAP) and Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DFAPA).

He has served on national committees of various professional societies and is also active in local professional societies. He has been the President of the Utah Psychiatric Association as well as the President of the Utah Medical Association.

Passionate about improving mental health outcomes, Dr. Weeks is committed to advancing the field through innovative, evidence-based treatments and the transparent reporting and use of clinical outcomes.
