As dietitians, we have extensive training on a variety of topics—notably excluding the treatment of eating disorders. This presentation will consider common dietetic educational tenets and benefits of “unlearning” what we’ve learned.
The target audience for this continuing education program is dietitians working with individuals with mental health diagnoses. Materials are appropriate for learners with an introductory level of understanding about mental health concerns.
Educational Objectives
- List at least 3 screening questions to identify symptoms of eating disorders
- Distinguish between normal eating, disordered eating, and eating disorders
- Describe the importance of supervision in eating disorder-informed nutrition care
